Exhibit opportunity for SAQA MN members

SAQA Minnesota members have been invited to exhibit their nature-themed quilts at the Tamarack Nature Center in White Bear, MN from mid-October through November, 2010.  A national conference and busy fall activities would ensure that the pieces would be seen by a large audience.  There will be an opening on November 5th. Contact Susan Stein for exhibit requirements. Please bring quilts to the September 21st meeting.

July Meeting Update

21 SAQA members attended ate July meeting at the Textile Center. Among the highlights: The Evergreen Quilters group took a ribbon at the MN show.  Doroth Mayer has two quilts in the 1000 Artisans book.  Stephanie Forsyth had four pieces juried into a WI show.  Be sure to check out her blog- www.thefibernation.blogspot.com.  Members voiced that the Textile Center is convenient for members. Check back for updates on our September 21st and November 20th meeting.

July Meeting Update. New Location: Textile Center

Summer greetings:

The July 27th, 2010 meeting has been changed to the Textile Center. http://www.textilecentermn.org We will have a social hour from 5:30 - 6:30. Bring a dish or beverage to share. The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM. Please bring what you have been working on.

The reason for the change is that I had the opportunity to extend my Asia trip to visit Korea. While there, I will be networking with the new regional representative for Korea, Mi-Sik Kim. I will also be looking at potential venues for a SAQA exhibit in Seoul, Korea. It is an exciting opportunity for SAQA and myself, so I hope you will forgive me for the change in venue.

Some exciting opportunities for you:

Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition applications are due this Monday, July 19th. The application takes five minutes and no photo is needed. We need more fiber entered, the media is selected as a percentage of all entries. See the details at: http://www.mnstatefair.org/competition/fine_arts.html

The Textile Center is accepting applications for the juried Holiday Show. Details at http://www.textilecentermn.org/gallery.asp
