Greetings Artists!
Our next meeting takes place this Saturday, March 3 at 10:00am; meeting agenda below. Once again we will meet at The Lyric community room, 765 Hampden Ave, St. Paul MN 55114.
*We hope to see you at the "Focal Point" reception this Friday night, March 2nd from 6pm to 8pm, at the Textile Center!

- Welcome/Introductions
- Report on the "Focal Point" exhibit. (Field trip after the meeting? For those who have not yet seen the show.)
- PRESENTATION: Stephanie Forsyth, "Studio Rehab"
- One foot square artwork show n tell; review plans for "Best Foot Forward" (MQ show info etc)
- For the May 12 meeting: Polling the group, what do you want to learn about photographing your work, photography-related software etc? On May 12, Jeff Conrad, Imagine Photography of Moorehead MN joins us for a demo on photographing your work, and a full day of artwork photography at a special rate per piece. SIGN UP at the meeting to have your work photographed! Fees, shipping etc will be discussed. We will have a sign up sheet at the March 3 meeting.

Once again we apologize for this month's meeting date/time conflict with the MQ meeting, which arose based on the availability of our free meeting space at The Lyric. We will strive in the future to avoid this conflict with respect for those of us who belong to more than one quilting group.

Upcoming Meeting

First of all a special thank you to those of you who participated in the Textile Center show: "Focal Point". We managed to turn around a show in two weeks! Bravo!!! Also thank you to the members who help to hang the show, it was greatly appreciated and it looks great! The Community Gallery and Library offered limited wall space but I think the representation and the flow of the exhibit turned out exceptionally! The opening reception for the Mondale Gallery is on March 2 in the evening for any of you who like to attend. We will have great exposure both from the Textile Center and the SAQA website.

There has been concern around the change of our next meeting to March 3rd, rather than March 10th. Jen and I had to choose a different date because The Lyric space we use was already booked for the 10th; this space is free to us, and it was difficult to secure another space with limited funds, so we had to make a decision. I have planned ahead for May 12th and have secured the space so this won't happen again. I recognize that this conflicts with MN Quilters meeting. I apologize for that! The 17th was an option but we weren't sure if that would be any better date. Please let Jen and I know if you are able to attend on the 3rd. Guest speaker Stephanie Forsyth will give a short presentation on Studio Upgrades. An agenda will be forthcoming.

Please bring your "Best Foot Forward" piece for show and tell even if it is a work in progress. Our hope is that based on the deadlines per SAQA guidelines we may each need two pieces completed, so we have something for the special exhibit for the MN Quilt show in Rochester.

We will have a guest speaker at the May 12th meeting to discuss photographing your artwork, and you may also have your work photographed by the speaker at that meeting! I will have a sign-up sheet and pricing to share at the next meeting. If you are unable to attend we could make arrangements to drop off your quilts to be photographed. I will email the sign-up sheet and info, have it posted on the blog.
Thank you for your assistance and understanding!

Happy creating!
~ Jennifer Conrad

We have a great new opportunity to exhibit at the Textile Center February 22 thru March 17th. It is only a few short days away, Sheryl Schwyhart had a space opening and since I had been discussing us doing a show there she called to see if we would be interested. The show will be called Focal Point. We hope that the majority of you will participate! I know it is short notice, but I think it is a great chance to show our collective body of work.

  • We are trying to have at least 20 art quilt pieces that have not been exhibited before at the Textile Center.
  • Sheryl has asked that we hang and take down the show as well, any volunteers? Feb 21will be the hanging and March 19th will be the tear down.
  • Please send a low resolution image with your name, title, and dimensions in the file name (Conrad_Jennifer_Serendipity_21x22) to Jen Schultz and myself by February 12th, we will need to compile the images to give to Sheryl.
  • The quilts need to be dropped off or mailed to the Textile Center by February 16-18th with the attached agreement filled out and a hanging device. We will be able to have our pieces for sale, please keep that in mind when making your selection as well.
  • We may be able to accept more than one quilt depending on the response from the group, based on size and quantity. We would like to have as many artists as possible on display.
  • We will be exhibiting in the Community Gallery space, Sheryl reserves the right for final selection of the pieces base on size and a cohesive display.

Thank you in advance for your assistance! Any questions? Contact Jen Schultz at 612-702-5734 or Jennifer Conrad at 443-255-6740.
